Golden Eagle "Virgil Caine" is outfitted with telemetry unit

On 3/13/08 this third year female Golden Eagle was caught on Tamarack Ridge and released from nearby Bear Mountain in Highland County. She's wearing a hood here which helped keep her calm while researchers from the Center for Conservation Biology (Wm. & Mary) put the telemetry unit on her. Late March/early April 2008 she migrated to Qubec and returned to Highland every fall since then. A second Golden Eagle, a third year male, was caught nearby by Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries officials and outfitted with a tracking unit February 2009.
